UPSC IAS Prelims 2017 notifications are out,so updated syllabus and eligibility is must.UPSC Exam is considered as one of the toughest competitive exams in the country and the preparation for this exam is advised to begin a year earlier due to the vastness of syllabus that has to be covered and the huge competition involved in this exam.Among the 12 lakh applicants only 1000 clears exam.So lets see the IAS exam syllabus and eligibility.The UPSC CSE consists of 3 stages and they are Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam, and Personality Test/Interview. The UPSC calendar that consists of the exam dates is announced by the commission through UPSC notifications.

What is upsc syllabus 2017?

upsc Civil Services Preliminary exam comprises of two compulsory papers of 200 marks each (GS Paper 1 and GS Paper 2). The questions will be of multiple choice, objective type. The marks in prelims will not be counted for final ranking, but just for qualification for main exam.A candidate’s rank in UPSC Civil Service Exam depends only on the mark scored in Main and Interview.The written examination (main) will consist of the following nine papers, but only 7 papers will be counted for final merit ranking. For the rest two papers, the candidate should secure minimum marks prescribed by UPSC each year.The main exam has 1750 marks while interview has 275 marks.

UPSC IAS VACANCIES 2017 

980 vacancies this time. [99 less than last year]. Therefore, less candidates will qualify for mains and interview compared to previous years.

CSAT Paper - 2 (APTITUDE)-(200 marks) Duration: Two hours 

Comprehension,Interpersonal skills including communication skills;Logical reasoning and analytical ability,Decision-making and problem solving,General mental ability,Basic numeracy,English Language Comprehension skills.

UPSC Exam Eligibility

The educational qualification needed to appear in UPSC CSE is a degree (graduation) in any subject. Final year students can also apply.
general category - 6 attempts.
OBC candidates-9 attempts.
SC/ST category-unlimited attempts .
till they attain the upper age limit to appear for UPSC CSE.
